Hi @sandy430 , Without an image it will be difficult to identify it and where it belongs, if indeed it does belong in the laptop. Here’s a link to the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. All I find is the apple watch 6 teardowns so is it the same? i would imagine they’re probably pretty similar in the teardown procedure. youd have to take care when heating up the screen so you dont get glass shards in your fingers and take it slow when you lift the screen up so you dont tear any cables....

You could try to replace the screw, I am assuming Its a 1998 model since the 2012 model has two screws. I advice to replace the screw, or you could try to replace or interchange the battery pack door....
Chosen Solution I’ve used the tool that came with the fitbit zip but I’m wondering if i can pry it open without ruining it. It just won’t turn to the unlock position so I can replace the battery @dacqua prying it apart is not going to work. You will only break the mechanism of the cover or the cover itself. If the tool does not work, try a coin or a small washer and a pair of pliers to try and open the cover....
Chosen Solution I saw a post a while back about replacing the bearing and shaft, is there a youtube video on this repair, can the washer remain in an upright positon to make this repair as i am working in a very tight space, what kind of tools do i need? There are a lot of videos on youtube on how to replace bearings. I had very little room too. You have to tilt the washer up against the wall at an angle to get at the stuff on the bottom....
